Maybe you look in the mirror and you just want to end up in tears. Some days this is really me. Every one may say your body is fine but inside you just don’t believe it. You are in a constant cycle of comparison and you just don’t feel confident in your own skin.
If these things connect with you, let me tell you that I get you. This is a big common struggle but it can be overcome.
Have you heard of Cambria Joy on YouTube? I’ve been following along with her life for quite a while now and I love her! She is such an inspiration and encouragement. She has launched a devotional- ‘Look Inside: 30 Days to ending your war with the mirror’
I’ve been going through her devotional along with the journal and I need to share with you what I am learning,
There is freedom in Jesus
When you feel those horrible feelings about yourself, you can rest in the fact that they are lies and that we can be free of them because of what Jesus is done.
‘With Jesus you start at the finish line’-Cambria Joy
God says something different about us
God wants us to believe the truth in the bible about who we are. Our identity doesn’t lie in what the world says or what we say but what He says.
He will give you give your strength to overcome this struggle
‘When our strength runs out, Jesus’s grace will not’-Cambria Joy
Progress is better than perfection
Getting over wanting the journey to be perfect is such a big hurdle to overcome, I love how Cambria sums it up, ‘Our progress is not marked by perfection but by grace’
Looking a certain way shouldn’t be our end goal or motivation
God treasure who we are on the inside far more than our outward appearance.
‘Instead of working out and eating to be thin, work out to simply honour the body that God gave you’-Cambria Joy
