When Ainsley and I decided to do the ‘Living out your faith’ series, I soon realised I we needed to talk about words. Then planning this post I went through old posts and saw just over a year ago I wrote a post called words. But today I want to share with you the connections I’ve made between faith and the words we use.
For me when I say I am a Christian my life needs to show that I am different. It is just the way it works.Since words are such an important and large area of lives we need to make these words count.
You don’t just change the way you speak because ‘the bible says so’ (don’t get me wrong this is still a great reason) but the change needs to come from your heart. Because you’ve chosen Jesus, you should want to honour and reflect him. Our motivations behind our words are just as import as the words themselves.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen-Ephesians 4:29
Your words need to build others up, positivity over negativity.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones-Proverbs 16:24
By choosing say, not to swear or use God’s name in vain- you are choosing Jesus over words that are harmful and negative.
