How to Plan a Group Trip With Friends and Family

January 29, 2018
There’s only one thing better than taking an awesome trip: taking an awesome trip with a bunch of
your friends and family! You plan it together, board the plane together, and then explore your chosen destination as one
big group. What could be better? However, there’s much work to be done before you get to enjoy all
the rich fruits of traveling with your nearest and dearest. Below, we run through some tips on how to
make sure your trip goes off without a hitch. Happy travels!
Pick a Destination For Everyone
Everyone has their ideal travel destination, but this journey isn’t about the individual: it’s about the
group. As such, it’s important that you pick a place that’ll be suitable for everyone, a place that caters
to people of all ages and interests. In this regard, a big city is probably best, as they typically have a
whole host of attractions, though if you’re just planning on spending time together – as in, it’s a
“reunion” type event – then a beach might work just fine; check out

All-Age Activities
Of course, you’ll be busy organizing travel plans and hotels, but what are you going to do when you
actually get there? In the early stages of your planning, take a browse through what’s on offer when
you’re there. You’re going to have toe the line between making sure everyone gets to do something
they enjoy, without making people do much stuff that they’d rather sit out. In general, though, if you
see that a place has activities for all ages and abilities, then it’s probably a good bet – you don’t, after
all, have to stay by each other’s side for the duration of the trip.
Add a Surprise or Two
Most of what you’re going to be doing will be known by the group in advance.
After all, they should have a say in what happens on their trip, too!
However, as the organizer, you have the option to add a surprise or two:
something that will make the trip special, but which isn’t known by the others until they’re there.
If you’re struggling to think of anything, think in terms of the destination.
If you’re visiting New York, for example, then a party bus like those offered by

If you’re visiting a beach resort, then opt for a boat tour or something similarly water related.
Plan It…But Not Too Much
It’s good to be prepared, but there’s also such a thing as planning overkill.
You shouldn’t have a regimented itinerary that outlines what you’ll be doing every minute of every day.
Instead, keep things loose. Things like restaurants, breakfasts, and the like can be organized when
you’re there. It’s also a good idea to schedule in some “nothing” time so that everyone has the chance
to do their own thing. All going well, you’ll have a trip that the whole family – or your clan of friends –
will remember for years to come.
