What I’ve learnt from 2 years of blogging?

July 20, 2018

Today marks 2 years of ‘The Different Girl.’

Technically 2 years of blogging is only on 6 August because TDG started as just an Instagram account but I thought today was a good day to celebrate.

I asked on my Instagram for some questions that I would answer on this occassion, we have sections-Blogging and then just some random/personal questions!

I want to share with you in this post, a little bit of the behind the scenes of posts and things I’ve learnt so far on this blogging journey.

If you have any other questions, please comment them below!

I also have a free resource with way more details about my blogging journey and blogging in general.

Blogging Q&A

Blogging Questions

Q: What’s your favourite topic to blog about?

A: I love the heart to heart posts that I just suddenly write and post on that day. Things just flow more naturally and my heart really feels full when I writing the truth to cover the lies I am believing but then I also get to share it will all of you.

Here are two examples of these kind of posts:

How should Christians handle social media? and When will you feel complete?

Q: How did you grew viewership on your blog when it was brand new?

A: I wanted to laugh when I read this question because most of my first year of blogging I had about 20 people reading my blog. And it seriously didn’t bother me at all. I started really getting into blogging a year ago and did so much research about everything blogging related (more details in the free resource-linked below) and then bought my own domain and started using Pinterest. So if I started doing the things I do when I first started my blog, it would have grown a lot faster.

Q: How did you grow your instagram account?

A: Eeek, I don’t even think my account has grown that much so I so don’t feel qualified to give tips!

But some things I did notice is when I posted everyday for a while, my account grew really fast but for me to continue doing this is just unrealistic! Hashtags did work, I think but I have stopped using them because I just feel they are too messy and when I use them I feel like my hearts not in the right place and I focus on the numbers more. So now I’m just posting when I feel like, what I feel like posting.

Q: What is the your favourite tool that has helped grow your blog?

A: My answer is going to sound like every other blogger out there but Pinterest along with tailwind. (Thanks Allison for all your tips about this!) Now at first both of us things didn”t show me much value for what I paid for but slowly I’m seeing some growth.

Q: What is the greatest blessing that has come from blogging?

A: I think the confidence it has given me to truly be myself. Through blogging it has taught me how to really use my voice and be proud of who I am. As I write to encourage others I am also writing to myself and learning lessons alongside my readers. Blogging has given me the confidence to share my passion but also to recognize what my passions are.

Q: What’s the most important thing that you’ve learnt from blogging?

A: I’ve learnt a lot from blogging, but one of the hardest things was to not care what other people think.

Random Questions

Q: If you could live somewhere for an entire year, where would it be?

A: I dream about going to America all the time or Greece

Q: What is your favourite food?

A: Pizza and Ice cream

Q: What is your favourite ice-cream flavour?

A: Cookies and Cream or Raspberry
